Last Chance to Shape the Provincial Filipino Cultural Centre: Vision Survey Closes December 31, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 4, 2024

Vancouver, BC— The countdown is on to complete the Provincial Filipino Cultural Centre Vision Survey! With less than one month to go, the Mabuhay House Society invites Filipino Canadians across BC to seize this unique opportunity to shape the future of a vibrant cultural hub that will serve generations to come.

As of today, the Government of BC has received an inspiring 1,200 responses—each one bringing us closer to understanding the dreams and needs of our community. This is your chance to be heard. Completing the survey is not just a contribution; it’s a legacy. This holiday season, give the next generations of Filipino Canadians the best gift of all: a vision of unity, pride, and celebration.

Sammie Jo Rumbaua, Chair of Mabuhay House Society, shared her gratitude: "Reaching 1,200 responses is an incredible milestone, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who has shared their insights. Every voice counts, and together, we can create a centre that embodies the heart of our community. Let’s finish strong and make history—your input matters."

During the Pinoy Festival event on June 20, 2024, Premier David Eby, shared how his government is working closely with Mabuhay House Society together with community organizations to engage and promote the Vision Survey: "We work closely with Mabuhay House to reach out across the community to gather information and put together a new questionnaire on the government website so you can tell us what you want to see in a cultural centre. We will keep working with Mabuhay House to ensure your voice is heard,” Premier David Eby announced during the event.

The survey results will be summarized and shared with the community in Spring 2025 to ensure transparency and inclusivity. Following this, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sports will provide recommended next steps in Summer 2025, marking a significant milestone in the journey toward establishing this cultural centre.

The Mabuhay House Society extends heartfelt thanks to former Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sports, Lana Popham, for her leadership in supporting this initiative. We also look forward to working closely with the new Minister, Spencer Chandra Herbert, to bring this vision to life.

Don’t miss this chance to make your mark! The survey is available at mabuhayhouse.ca/visionsurvey and will remain open until December 31, 2024. Share your voice today and help us build a cultural centre that will inspire and unite for generations.
